Threesome Thursday: Clare Bowditch Songs

I have trouble picking my favourite singers or bands, my all time favourite albums and songs, there is just too much I love. So I thought I'd share my favourite three songs by one of my favourite Australian singers. I think she's a pretty awesome person too and absolutely delightful to talk to if you're ever lucky enough to meet her. 1. Peccadilloes (2008, The Moon Looked On)   This song has always been one of my favourites, theres just something about it. Perhaps its been the little girl in me, who after being hurt and betrayed so many times in the past, is still looking for that someone to tell all my peccadilloes to. If you're outside looking in and you see me inside waving, could you place your fat lips on the window glass? And I will blow a short hot breath and draw my secrets into it. All my peccadilloes, only you will know. You're standing in the snow. You're laughing like you love me. You build your snow man dough and I pretend I can...

Things I'm grateful for today 1. Free movies tickets to Django Unchained last night 2. That I have a friend as wonderful as Ben who picks me up when I feel down and tells me I can when I think I can't 3. CT (as per the above) 4. The #hsp 5. That I have children who are intelligent and articulate enough to stand up for themselves 6. That I am fortunate enough to have Millicent, Sean, Jess, Caleb, Mia and Paige in my life 7. That I'm having dinner with three amazing women that I admire and adore tonight 8. That I'm meeting one of the above three women IRL for the first time tonight 9. That my 6 year old thinks I'm a great singer even though I'm really not 10. Music. It helps me feel happy, sad or angry, it helps me change my mood or indulge it, it makes life better. What are you grateful for today? Edit: I'm also grateful for the RAC man who came and changed our tire after we got a flat on the freeway of all places an...

One in a million...

So apparently I am one of a very small percentage of ADHD adults who experiences a worsening of depression symptoms when taking Dexamphetamines.  To start with I didn't notice, but as I continued to take my daily doses my depression symptoms have gotten worse and worse. The situation reached critical mass on Sunday night. My thoughts and behaviour got beyond my control and I had a complete meltdown. The rest of the week has been nothing short of difficult. There has been tears at the drop of the hat, an inability to regulate my emotions (more than usual), and a highly emotional state in general. The smallest things have sent me spiralling out of control. The hsp says its the worst he has ever seen me. It has left me feeling afraid and ashamed. My logical brain knows that there is no reason to feel this way but my logical brain is not exactly the loudest at the moment.  Luckily I had an appointment with my ADHD doctor today and I informed him what was going on. ...

30 Day Challenge Again - Day Seven

a picture of someone/something that has the biggest impact on you The 2010 day seven post can be found here This is a post that takes little thinking about. There is only one possible answer to what has the biggest impact on me, and that is my kids! How they are doing, if they are happy, what's going on in their lives, all impact on me, my mood, my day, my life. If I'm feeling sad, these three smiling faces can cheer me up and make me happy once again. They have an impact on every decision I make.  oh, and there's this guy too of course...

30 Day Challenge Again - Day Four

a habit that you wish you didn’t have the 2010 Day Four post can be found here where to start?! I have quite a few bad habits that I wish I didn't have and I can think of a few that other people wish I didn't have as well! My worst two habits are biting my nails and eating when I'm bored. I had stopped biting my nails for a while but I always go back to it when I'm feeling particularly anxious. Apparently the new drugs for my ADHD will help me get the eating thing under control though so that'll be one less bad habit. My mum would probably consider my swearing a bad habit (despite the fact that I love it) and she probably would also like me to be slightly less argumentative. The HSP would have a pretty long list of bad habits/annoying things I do including forgetting the washing is in the washing machine (sometimes several times), singing loudly and out of tune, not paying attention to what we're watching and then asking lots of questions ab...

Rev Day Four & Recommendations for Tuesday

My Rev Day One Wrap Up & Recommendations for the 7th

the HSP

I love that after knowing each other for  nearly 23 years and being married for almost 10 my husband shaped person can still say and do things that surprise me. I love that he still gives me butterflies in my stomach. I love that I still enjoy kissing him, cuddling with him, or even just sitting next to him watching TV. I still adore the way his eyes sparkle when he smiles and the way he holds my hand. I love his brains, his sense of humour, his damn sexy good looks. I love that he gets me, that he supports me, that he comforts me, that he touches me. I could ask for no better husband shaped person. Happy birthday darling husband! Love you lots, AHAW xxx

World Domination and the Darkness

"Gee Brain, what do you want to do tonight?" "The same thing we do every night Pinky -  try to take over the world!" Two things are clear to me , I love that cartoon and Brain never suffered from depression. You see it's much easier to try to take over the world if you don't have to use every ounce of motivation and determination in your body to get out of bed each morning. If Brain had suffered from depression it is likely he may have given up his plan after the first failure. For even the smallest hurdle can, to a depressive, seem like an insurmountable barrier. Now don't get me wrong, there are lots of depressed people who have achieved all sorts of amazing things. World domination while depressed is not completely impossible its just a hell of a lot harder. Before people start accusing me of being a whiner and making excuses I would first ask those people a) do you currently have or have you ever depression? and b) can you shut your stupid...

A scary day in our lives

This is another post from my old tumblr blog. I am posting it here because the events described within have affected our lives so much and the aftermath has defined who we are as a family, a couple and as people So I posted on twitter a little while ago that it was a scary day at my house as Alan has gone to work today with his resignation in hand but with no new job to go to. A couple of people who are relatively new to our lives have asked me why, what happened? Unfortunately the answer to this question is far too complicated to answer in a 140 character tweet. So I thought I would write a blog about it. The details below have been pieced together by me from personal accounts, police reports and news stories. Just over 4 years ago, about a month and a half after our master 4 was born, my husband Alan was assaulted at his workplace, BWS Maddington. It was an average workday, there was Alan and two staff in the store and a number of authentic customers when some people entered th...
